Government Grant Scheme For Food And Drink Businesses

As part of the newly created Scotland Rural Development Programme, a massive new Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation (FPMC) grant scheme has receently been launched.

With a 50% increase in funding, the new scheme offers assistance to both new and existing businesses.

Now open for capital-related applications, the funding awarded can be used for activities such as developing or creating food processing facilities, including buildings and equipment.

FIFE INVENTION SET TO REVOLUTIONISE COMMERCIAL FOOD WASTE DISPOSAL

A new invention, thought up by a Fife businessman, is set to revolutionise the way chip shops, restaurants and food processors stop their waste going down the drain – and at the same time help them avoid hefty fines.

Malcolm Wood, of Ballingry-based fruit and vegetable wholesaler Ivan Wood & Sons, believes his Eco Peel Tech filtration system will help any business that puts fruit or vegetable peel down the drain meet strict new Government legislation coming into effect in Scotland next year.

3D PRINTING EVENT SHAPING UP

The above 3D Printing and Prototyping event, held on Thursday 14 May, proved to be a highly successful and informative session.

Business Gateway Fife, in partnership with Acron 3D Printing, delivered the first of two events, held at Rosyth Business Centre, last week.   Local businesses were able to get a real insight into the benefits of this process and view a live demonstration.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING ROADSHOW FOR EMPLOYERS

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Scotland has been working closely with the Scottish government and the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives (SCHWL) on a series of informative road shows, the aim of which is to promote ”Health and Wellbeing” in the workplace and support employers with Occupational Health issues.
