As life starts to get back to normal after the pandemic, it’s time for businesses to plan and adapt for the future. In September, the temporary relaxations, which many businesses have benefited from, will come to an end.
In April 2020, the Scottish Government introduced new legislation to make it easier for businesses to adapt their operations during the pandemic and periods of lockdown. This allowed businesses greater flexibility to make physical changes to their premises, type of services offered and hours of operation, without the need for planning permission.
The latest annual figures for Fife Council Economic Development and Business Gateway Fife have been revealed with some very encouraging results.
The number of new businesses starting up in the year totalled an impressive 603, which is the highest number achieved by area in Scotland! This was up by 84 on the previous year which also highlights an amazing achievement during a year where the pandemic was still having an adverse effect on business and the economy.
Sapphire Signs, Design and Print is continuing to grow and develop its offering to clients. Based in Fife for 20 years, the original owner wished to concentrate on his other venture in 2020 and regular customer, Piers Rickard, seized the opportunity to take over the business and make it his own.
