Kirkcaldy business, Komandor Scotland, may only have opened its doors last month, but already the bespoke furniture retailer has secured a raft of orders from customers across the country. Launched by Ken Hunter and Peter Murphy, with support from Business Gateway Fife, the company (www.komandorscotland.com) specialises in the design and fit of quality fitted furniture, including unique sliding wardrobes, for both private and commercial customers.

“The business has made a great start and we have received lotsof positive feedback,” said Peter. “Our computer aided design service allows the customer to have full control over the use of potential storage areas in the home and office that may otherwisebe underutilised.”

Ken continued: “We have worked hard to get the showroom up and running and Business Gateway Fife and Fife Council have been a great support throughout the start-up process. Our adviser, Lynne Baillieis helping us to secure funding from a number of sources.

“Lynne is also continuing to support us through Business Gateway’s High Value Start-Up Service and has been advising us on our development plans and HR issues as we look to bring on a young employee through the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.”

Although the business is in its early stages, Ken and Peter are already looking to the future with plans afoot to potentially open a new showroom in the coming year.
