When Andrew Gillan was looking to take his business to the next level, the Glenrothes businessman approached Business Gateway Fife for some specialist support to help him develop the company. Launched in 2006, Handrails Direct (www.handrails-direct.co.uk)has shown impressive growth with the company doubling turnover last year and now finalising a move to larger premises, complete with a state-of-the-art showroom, on Newark Road South in Glenrothes.
“We are seeing a greater number of domestic and commercial clients coming to us for bespoke stainless steel balustrading and stainless steel and wooden handrails,” said Andrew.
“Business Gateway Fife has supported us throughout the growth process and it was instrumental in helping us secure funding from Fife Council’s Fife Investment Fund for our move into new premises. Our new show room will allow us to showcase the quality and range of products we have to a wider audience.
“Our business adviser Alasdair Busby identified funding to help us purchase a new fork lift and attend the Ideal Home Show in Glasgow.
“Although the funding is important it’s not all about finance. Alasdair has been a great help and his support on a range of growth issues has been invaluable. In the coming months we want to explore a number of exporting opportunities and we will certainly be looking to Business Gateway Fife for some specialist advice on the best way forward.”
